Product Design (UX/UI): Note & Documentation App "doorlin"

Scope

  • Design
  • concept and marketing

Duration

Part of doorlin (2015 – 2024)

Notes that do not stay isolated: compile content from communication and files, keep it in sync and share it.

doorlin Note is the note-taking and documentation app of the platform: compile, keep in sync and share communication and content from anywhere in dynamic notes.

01

Goal

Business and user goals – and my contribution to defining them.

Business
A clear entry to the platform: understandable on its own and pointing to the other doorlin apps.
User
Collect thoughts, content and tasks in one place – across devices, without sync effort – and share them selectively.
02

Problem

The data, insights and pain points the solution builds on.

Notes arise in meetings, emails and chats and end up in different apps – hard to find again and stale as soon as the source changes.

  • Content is spread across many places.
  • Copies go stale.
  • Sharing and editing together need additional tools.
03

Solution

Approach, UX patterns, screens and design process.

Approach & UX patterns

Dynamic notes consist of building blocks (text, files, messages) fed from their source and kept in sync. The interface stays calm: note list, large editor, sharing in context.

Screens, UI flow & process

Capture, link, share: first sketched as wireflows, then worked out as UI and aligned in the design system with the other doorlin apps.

04

Impact & Validation

Outcome and validation.

Outcome
An app with its own interface, brand and landing page built on the patterns of the other doorlin apps.
Validation (planned)
Tests of the core flows (create, link, share a note), metric time to the first shared note.
