Scope
- Design
- concept and marketing
Duration
Part of doorlin (2015 – 2024)
Emails, chats and files in one conversation: an inbox that organises collaboration instead of message flood.
The Email Messenger is the communication app of the platform: receive, manage and discuss files, emails and chat conversations from anywhere in one place.
Goal
Business and user goals – and my contribution to defining them.
- Business
- An everyday app that is opened daily and thereby becomes the entry to the platform.
- User
- Receive, sort and answer messages, files and discussions in one place – without switching between mailbox, messenger and storage.
Problem
The data, insights and pain points the solution builds on.
Communication is spread across email, chat and file exchange; anyone searching has to search several systems.
- One conversation is scattered across several channels.
- Attachments lose their connection to the message.
- The inbox sorts by arrival, not by collaboration.
Solution
Approach, UX patterns, screens and design process.
Approach & UX patterns
Conversations instead of single messages: emails, chat posts and files on one topic form a thread. The interface follows a triad of list, conversation and context.
Screens, UI flow & process
The everyday flow – open, reply, share a file, find again – first sketched as a flow, then worked out as UI and aligned in the shared design system.

Impact & Validation
Outcome and validation.
- Outcome
- An app with a consistent interface, defined micro-interactions, brand and landing page based on the design system.
- Validation (planned)
- User tests of the core flows (read, reply, share a file, find again), metric time to reply.
